As announced by ESPN and the AP, Jim Mora will be the new coach of the Seahawks when Holmgren retires at the end of next year. Now if we could just get rid of Alexander the future would be bright!

With the Hawks up 21-10 in the 2nd quarter, FOX continues to proclaim the greatness of Shaun Alexander. And yet, minus a superb first run, he has continuously missed the hole and juked when he should just be running hard. In short, he is up to his old tricks (no pun intended). Mo Morris should be playing.

On 4th and Goal from the half yard line with less than 30 seconds left, all the Rams had to do was hand the ball to Steven Jackson and they were sure to come out victorious. But, after a botched snapped by Gus Frerotte, who replace the injured Mark Bulger in the 1st quarter, Darryl Tapp hit Frerotte from behind and the Hawks were victorious.

Matt Hasselbeck, who was knocked down, hurried, and sacked all day long, ended up with a respectable day (due to a great second half), finishing with 249 yards, a TD, and an INT.  Mo Morris had 79 yards rushing (thanks in part tgo one really big draw play) and Branch lead all receivers with 92 yards and a TD.

The hero of the game (other than maybe Gus Frerotte for giving the game to the Seahawks) had to be Patrick Kearney, with his second consecutive 3 sack game and he was credited with an INT on a bad shovel pass.

Seahawks win a sqeauker, holding the Rams to 0 points in the 2nd half…Seahawks 24-19 Rams

Two possessions in and the Seahawks Offense looks as anemic as ever. So far -17 yards, 2 sacks given up to Will Witherspoon, and several missed blocks to lead to a safety. 2-0 Rams. And if Rocky Bernard had simply fallen on the fumble he had in his hands, there would have been no chance for a safety. Not looking good for the Hawks.

Shaun Alexander will be out again. Therefore, expect Mo Morris to step up big for the Hawks in their new Super West Coast Offense, full of throwing (especially to the RB). Morris has 87 yds rushing in each of the two games since the Seahawks have committed to the pass, and expect him to keep it up…at least for one more week, as the Seahawks travel to St. Louis to take on NFC West Rival the Rams!

In what is shaping up to be a revenge game of sorts, the Seahawks welcome the lowly Chicago Bears to Qwest Field this afternoon for what should be (surpisingly) quite the offensive battle. The Bears defense, which has long been among the best in the NFL, has fallen to a staggering 20th in the NFL (with the offense at a not-so-surprising 24th). The Seahawks look to continue their throwing ways, looking to improve upon an NFW West best 341.9 yards per game. In their last meeting, in the playoffs, last year, the Bears knocked off the Seahawks in OT 27-24, in a game the Seahawks looked poised to win. Expect a big game for the Seahawks and a victory.

Projection: 38 Seahawks - 22 Bears

End of 3rd Quarter Update

The Hasselbeck of old has returned, as he has begun to miss on every pass. Could his strained oblique be acting up on him? Seahawks 24-16 Browns. Cleveland driving.

Halftime Report

The Seahawks have, for the most part, dominated the afternoon, with the score Seahawks 21-9 Browns at halftime. Except that one errant throw, Matt Hasselbeck has been spectactular, going 15/21 with 172 yards, 2 TDs and an INT. Engram leads all receivers with 7 receptions for 68 yards and a TD.

The defense has been stifling, giving up only one TD drive and making a goal line stand at the end of the half to hold the Browns to a FG. The Defense allowed ony 1.3 rushing yards per carry, have an interception, and have held the Browns to 0 for 4 on 3rd down conversions.

Nate Burleson is the hero thus far. With a 94 yard punt return for a Touchdown, and 47 yards receving (all in the 1st quarter), he has made the largest difference in the game.

Alexander Returns

Shaun is back. Seahawks are driving. Hasselbeck is picking the Browns D apart.

As a whole the Seahawks offense has looked great. Bobby Engram (4 receptions for 41 yards and a TD) has been all over the place and Matt Hasselbeck (9/13 for 102 yards, a TD and an INT) seems to be on the same page as Nate Burleson (3 receptions for 47 yards). Subtract one errant throw by Hasselbeck that led to an INT and the Hawks may be up by even more. The defense has been excellent as well, with Tapp pulling down a dump off pass from Derek Anderson for an INT. Shaun Alexander injured his left foot and ankle and his return is questionable. Expect Mo Morris and Leonard Weaver to pick up the slack.

SCORE: 7-0 Seahawks with Browns driving
